Lady Bruins Narrow Defeat by South Side

Posted Wednesday, December 07, 2005 by Tara Graf

The Lady Bruins faced South Side High School last night in the season opener. This was the first round of the South Side Holiday Tournament. The Lady Bruins came out a little slow, but warmed up quickly thanks to excellent three point shooting by Adriana DeVito. The Lady Cyclones continued to stay a few points ahead thanks to great free throw shooting. They finished the night 20 of 27. But, Baldwin continued their attack from both the ouside and the inside. DeVito finished the night with a team and game high 15 points, followed by Jasmine Davis and Sharae Michael both putting up 8 points. The fourth quarter brought an and one play by Ali Johnson to tie the game, and shortly after, the Lady Bruins took the lead for the first time all night. The advantage was short lived, however. The Lady Bruins just couldn't hold on to the game as it came down the stretch. Key turnovers and poor decisions led to the final score of 45-51, Lady Cyclones. Despite the loss, this was an incredible start to what should be an incredible season! Every girl played and contributed to this contest, and big things are expected in the future from each member of this team!
